Ruling on the condition that the one performing 'Umrah must remain in Makkah for three days

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A listener asks two questions. In his first question, he says: I came to perform 'Umrah, but I did not enter the state of ihram on the ship, and I did not stay in the city here for more than just two nights. On the third day, I performed the 'Umrah. Some people told me: You must stay in the city for three days. I want to know from your eminence whether my 'Umrah is valid, or whether I owe an expiation? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
If you entered the state of ihram from the miqat when you passed it on the ship, or if you went to it so that you entered the state of ihram from the miqat of your city, then there is no harm on you if you completed the 'Umrah, even if you did not stay for more than one day, or even one hour. There are no specified days for 'Umrah. So the one who told you that you must stay for three days, his statement has no basis; it is a false statement. Whenever a person performs the tawaf and the sa'y and shaves or trims his hair, his 'Umrah is complete, and he may travel immediately on the day he arrived. There is no blame in that.
As for if you did not enter the state of ihram except from Makkah, or from near Makkah; you passed the miqat and did not enter the state of ihram, then you must sacrifice a sacrificial animal in Makkah for the poor, and the 'Umrah is valid, but it is incomplete; it is made complete by the sacrifice, because you did not enter the state of ihram from the miqat. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good. So does staying have no effect on the ihram? May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : As for staying, no.

The presenter : It is necessary that the ihram be from the miqat.

The Shaykh : Yes, yes.

The presenter : May Allah bless you.

The Shaykh : The miqat of his city.

The presenter : The miqat of his city.

The Shaykh : Or the city he passes through.

The presenter : May Allah bless you and reward you.
