Treatment of Satan's Whispers for One Who Has Repented from Sins

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A listener (S. A. W.) sent a message asking and saying: I am informing you that I am in a very difficult psychological state; this is because I used to be disobedient to Allah, and I burdened myself with sins and transgressions that I could not bear. Then, praise be to Allah, I repented to Allah, and I became diligent in performing the prayers at their times in congregation. I regret what has passed, and I have stopped doing everything that angers Allah. However, there are sins I committed at an early age in my life, and I still suffer from their effect on my psyche. Especially since whenever I turn to Allah and feel humility and brokenness before the greatness of Allah, I remember these sins, so I feel tightness in my chest and indescribable pain. Please guide me regarding this state—may Allah reward you with good—and do you advise me to perform specific expiations? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
This feeling and this fear indicate good—if Allah wills—and you are in a good state. You are not required to do anything except to persist in repentance, and praise be to Allah. As for these whispers, leave them alone, and seek refuge in Allah from Satan.
Repentance wipes out what came before itالتوبة تجب ما قبلها
And the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The one who repents from sin is like one who did not sin.التائب من الذنب كمن لا ذنب له
Sunan Ibn Majah 4250Da’if (Darussalam)
So thank your Lord, be upright, and leave these whispers alone. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
