The Ruling on Hanging Supplications Around the Neck of the Deceased

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner: He also says: There are some supplications that are hung on the deceased, specifically around his neck, to be in his grave as a reminder and to help him answer the questions of Munkar and Nakir. What is the ruling on this?
The Shaykh: This also has no basis; rather, it is reprehensible and a religious innovation. If he died upon uprightness, Allah will teach him and he will answer Munkar and Nakir. If he died other than upon uprightness, these things with him will not benefit him. It is only the firming of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Whoever Allah firms with the firm word will answer, and whoever He does not firm will not answer. If he died upon guidance and uprightness, he will answer, saying: "My Lord is Allah, Islam is my religion, and Muhammad is my Prophet." And if he died other than upon guidance, he will say: "Ah, ah, I do not know. I heard people saying something, so I said it." Then he will be struck with an iron mallet, and he will let out a scream that everything hears except humans. So the things hung on him do not benefit him, and they have no value. Rather, this is among the innovations that people have introduced. And Allah is the One to be sought for help.
The presenter: Allah is the One to be sought for help, may Allah reward you with good.
