The Loss of One Who Occupies Himself with the World at the Expense of What Allah Has Made Obligatory

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner has this final question. She says, "O Shaykh: Who are those whom Satan misleads so that he makes them forget the remembrance of Allah
while they thought that they were guided.وَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُمْ مُهْتَدُونَ
[Al-A'raf: 30]? Does this mean that if a Muslim prays the obligatory prayer, then remembers Allah, and then gets up and has no dhikr in his walking, sitting, or standing, that he has forgotten the remembrance?"

Answer:
Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) says in His great Book:
And whoever is blinded from remembrance of the Most Merciful - We appoint for him a devilوَمَنْ يَعْشُ عَنْ ذِكْرِ الرَّحْمَنِ نُقَيِّضْ لَهُ شَيْطَانًا
[Al-Zukhruf: 36], meaning: the obligatory remembrance, from his prayer, his fasting, and what Allah has made obligatory upon him. As for if he occupies himself with his worldly affairs which Allah has permitted, such that it does not harm him, and he occupies himself with them to the extent that he leaves off the remembrance with the tongue, but he does not occupy himself with them to the extent that he leaves off performing the obligations; rather, he performs the obligations and leaves off the forbidden things, then there is no blame on him.
But the one whose love of the world occupies him from the remembrance of Allah... from what Allah has made obligatory upon him, he is the loser. He (Exalted and Majestic is He) said:
O you who have believed, let not your wealth and your children divert you from remembrance of Allah. And whoever does that - then those are the losers.
[Al-Munafiqun: 9], meaning: from the obligatory remembrance, from His obedience, from the prayer, from the fasting, from the obligatory Hajj, and so on.
As for the one whose occupation with the permissible thing, or his permissible worldly affairs such as selling, buying, or farming, occupies him from some of the recommended practices, he is not a loser, nor is he one over whom Satan has taken control, except if it occupies him from what Allah has made obligatory, or if it leads him into what Allah has forbidden. In that case, Satan has taken control of him to that extent. We ask Allah for well-being and safety. Yes.

The presenter: O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good, O Shaykh.
