The ruling on the slaughter of the Christians who slaughter in the name of the Father and the Son
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He says: We live among a group of Christians, and we eat from their slaughtered animals. We have heard them, when they begin the slaughter, say: "In the name of the Father and the Son." Is it permissible for us to eat from those slaughtered animals?
Answer:
As long as they invoked the name of the Son over it, it is not suitable; because this is shirk (associating partners with Allah) — may Allah protect us from it. The meaning is that they invoked over it other than Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He), so they should not eat from it.
As for if you do not know, then you may eat from it; because Allah has permitted the slaughter of the People of the Book, who are the Jews and the Christians. If you do not know how they slaughtered it, you may eat it. But if you know that they invoked over it the name of 'Isa, the name of the Son, who is 'Isa, or invoked over it the name of Maryam, or the name of any idol, or any object of worship other than Allah; it is forbidden. Likewise, if they slaughtered it in a manner other than the lawful slaughter, it is forbidden. Yes.
