The Difference Between Khata'ah, Sayyi'ah, and Dhanb

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner from Bahrain asks: What is the difference between khata'ah, sayyi'ah, and dhanb? And what is the ruling on looking at women? And what is the difference between hasanah and ajr (reward) for those who are rewarded?

Answer:
Sayyi'ah, khata'ah, and dhanb all mean the same thing. Sayyi'at, khata'ay, and dhunub are sins; they are sins. And hasanat, ta'at, and righteous deeds are all close in meaning to one another. So what comes in the texts regarding dhunub, sayyi'at, and khata'ay means what the servant does of a crime.
However, khata'ah may be used for what happens without intention, such as forgetfulness, as in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred.رَبَّنَا لا تُؤَاخِذْنَا إِنْ نَسِينَا أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا
[al-Baqarah: 286]. And a thing may be called khata' (mistake), meaning that it occurred without intent or due to forgetfulness. And a dhanb is called a khata'ah, and it is called a sayyi'ah.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
