Question:
This questioner, Ahmad al-Rifai, has a set of questions. He says: In these days, there is a lot of talk about sorcery—may Allah protect us and you from it—so what is the correct protection from the Qur'an and the Sunnah regarding this matter? May Allah reward you with good, Your Eminence.
Answer:
Sorcery occurs; it is known, meaning: there is no doubt that it may occur from some people. The sorcerer is one who associates partners with Allah, and he must be killed if he is known—may Allah grant us safety. 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) ordered his governors to kill the sorcerers. It is narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1460Da'if (Darussalam); because he is a disbeliever, and he calls to disbelief. As for protection, protection is by seeking refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created, by seeking refuge in the morning and evening in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created three times, Sunan Ibn Majah 3869 three times in the morning and evening, as the hadiths have come with this. Whoever does this; Allah will suffice him from the evil of everything, Sunan Abi Dawud 3898Sahih (Al-Albani) three times in the morning and evening: Sunan Ibn Majah 3869 three times.
Likewise, reciting[Al-Ikhlas 112:1] and the two protectors (al-Mu'awwidhatayn) in the morning and evening three times is among the causes of safety from sorcery, and other things, three times [al-Ikhlas: 1] [al-Falaq: 1] [al-Nas: 1] in the morning and evening.
And likewise, when sleeping, he recites it three times. The Verse of the Throne when sleeping is among the causes of safety from sorcery and Satan. Reciting it after every prayer, all of this is among the causes of well-being and safety. We ask Allah for safety and well-being. Yes.
The presenter: O Allah, amen. Thank you, Your Eminence.
