Advice to hasten the marriage of one's children and to beware of cursing them

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This is a female caller to the program. She says: I am Jordanian and reside in Tabuk. She mentions that two young men have proposed to her over the past four years. She says: I agreed to one person, and my mother agreed to the other, considering him a relative of ours. We tried to convince her that he was of bad character, and I was in favor of the other person because I wanted to move away from my family. My mother was standing at the bathroom door on a Friday around noon when she said to me: "May Allah never let you marry." She ended the matter regarding the person I wanted because of the mahr. My mother later discovered that the person she wanted was not morally suitable. My mother has forgotten this prayer because it came from her heart. After the incident, my mother often prayed during times when response is likely that Allah would grant me a righteous husband. Will this prayer have been answered, O Shaykh?

Answer:
Allah knows best , but we advise you to marry a good, righteous man, even if your mother refuses. We advise you to marry a righteous man and not remain unmarried as a spinster; rather, we advise you to strive to get married, and we advise your guardian to do the same, because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Obedience is in matters which are good and universally recognized.إنما الطاعة في المعروف
Sunan Abi Dawud 2625Sahih (Al-Albani)
And as long as your mother—may Allah guide her—has returned from her opinion, praise be to Allah.
The point is: if a suitable suitor proposes, hasten to marry. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When someone whose religion and character you are pleased with proposes to (someone under the care) of one of you, then marry to him.إذا خطب إليكم من ترضون دينه وخلقه فزوجوه
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1084Da'if (Darussalam)
We ask Allah for you a righteous husband. Yes.

The presenter: O Shaykh, perhaps you have guidance regarding parents cursing their children in such a situation.

The Shaykh: We advise all Muslims to beware of cursing their children; rather, they should pray for their children's well-being. It is prescribed for the father and mother to pray for their children's well-being, not against them. It is prescribed for the father and mother to pray for their children's success and righteousness. One prays for a man to have a righteous wife and righteous offspring, and for a woman to have a righteous husband and righteous offspring. This is what is obligatory, and this is what is befitting for fathers, mothers, and relatives to cooperate in righteousness and piety, to advise one another, and for each one to pray for his brother's well-being, righteousness, and a good outcome. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you.
