Encouraging Ease in Marriage and Avoiding Excessive Burdens

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This questioner, Mahdi Muhammad, says: He is a young man who wants to marry a girl, but the girl's father asked him for large sums of money, all at once. He says: I love this girl, so what is the solution? I ask you to pray that Allah guidesmy heart, and I offer you my sincere thanks.

Answer:
May Allah make your affairs easy, and the affairs of every Muslim, and guide her father so that he forgives you somewhat. Ease in marriage is important, as is avoiding excessive burdens. If a suitable match is found, it is best for the guardian and the woman to avoid excessive demands, to be content with what is affordable, and not to be extravagant in the bridal gift or the wedding feast, so that marriage becomes easy for all men and women. This is the best course.
And if you are unable to do so, then be patient until Allah makes the matter easy, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Young man, those of you who can support a wife should marry, for it keeps you from looking at strange women and preserves you from immorality; but those who cannot should devote themselves to fasting, for it is a means of suppressing sexual desire.يا معشر الشباب، من استطاع منكم الباءة؛ فليتزوج؛ فإنه أغض للبصر، وأحصن للفرج، ومن لم يستطع؛ فعليه بالصوم، فإنه له وجاء
Mishkat al-Masabih 3080
And Allah says (Exalted and Majestic is He):
And marry the unmarried among you and the righteous among your male slaves and female slaves. If they should be poor, Allah will enrich them from His bountyوَأَنكِحُوا الأَيَامَى مِنْكُمْ وَالصَّالِحِينَ مِنْ عِبَادِكُمْ وَإِمَائِكُمْ إِنْ يَكُونُوا فُقَرَاءَ يُغْنِهِمُ اللَّهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ
[al-Nur:32] Then He says after that:
But let them who find not [the means for] marriage abstain [from sexual relations] until Allah enriches them from His bounty.وَلْيَسْتَعْفِفِ الَّذِينَ لا يَجِدُونَ نِكَاحًا حَتَّى يُغْنِيَهُمُ اللَّهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ
[al-Nur:33] Meaning: the one who does not find the means to marry should be chaste, patient, and enduring until Allah makes him wealthy.
The point is: the believer strives for marriage and its prerequisites according to his capacity. If that does not become easy, he is patient until Allah relieves the situation. Yes.
