The Ruling on Being Lax in Making Up the Days of Ramadan

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner says in this question, Your Eminence: I am a man who is about seventy years old, and I have months from Ramadan, the number of which I do not know, that I have not fasted until today. I am in good health, praise be to Allah, and I live in the desert. I am thinking of expiating for that. What is the ruling, and is it obligatory for me to fast?

Answer:
It is obligatory for you to fast what you neglected. You must fast and feed a poor person for each day, half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) for each day, which is one and a half kilograms. This is because you were negligent and delayed the fasting without an excuse. Therefore, you must repent to Allah, make up the past months of Ramadan, and feed a poor person for each day if you have the means to do so, along with repentance and seeking forgiveness. This is a great error and a major negligence. We ask Allah for guidance for us and for you.

The presenter: May Allah reward you, Your Eminence.
