Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the meaning of His saying:
so that you may become distressedلِتَشْقَى..
[Taha:2]?

Answer:
It means to tire oneself. Allah prescribed worship so that one may find rest and worship Allah, finding rest through worship rather than distress from it.
Q: The connection to the Great Book
We have not sent down to you the Qur'an that you be distressedمَا أَنْزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْقُرْآنَ لِتَشْقَى
[Taha:2]?
A: Because the Qur'an was revealed so that the believer may benefit, learn, fear his Lord, and act in obedience to Allah. It was not revealed to burden yourself with what you cannot bear. It was revealed so that you worship your Lord with what you are able to do. So fear Allah as much as you are able. It was not revealed for you to act contrary to piety and contrary to your ability.
