The ruling on cohabiting with a wife who encourages her daughter to commit fornication

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
This is a message we received from the questioner Abdullah al-Awki, a Sudanese resident in Jeddah. He says in his message: I married a woman and she gave birth to a girl. I saw her going toward fornication, meaning the girl. When I hit her, she said to me: My mother forced me to do this. I divorced her. What should I do? Is it permissible for me to take her back, or should I take my daughter from her and leave her? Please advise us, may Allah reward you.
Answer: This requires careful attention. If the mother has repented to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and goodness has become apparent from her, as attested by her relatives and neighbors, or if it is established for you that the daughter lied about her, and that she did not do any evil, and that the corruption came from the daughter and not from her, then take her back. However, if it appears that the daughter is telling the truth, and that the woman encourages fornication and is corrupt in her honor, such that you do not feel safe regarding yourself and your children, then you should not take her back, and it is not permissible for you to take her back as long as she remains in this bad state; because there is danger in this, danger to you and your children. But do not rush in matters; be firm in matters, look into it, and ask those who know her among the neighbors and relatives. If it is established that she is good, and that she did not do this matter, or that she has repented with a sincere repentance, then there is no harm in taking her back as long as she is in the waiting period, or returning to her with a new marriage contract. However, if it becomes apparent to you that she is in her bad state, and that she is not honorable in her character, then you should not return to her; lest she bear you children from someone else. We ask Allah for safety and well-being.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
