How to Get Rid of Satan’s Whispers

Another question from the letter of the believing sister from the State of Kuwait—as she says—she says: When she prays, a whisper comes to her during the prayer, so she repeats the verse more than once, and so on until she finishes her prayer, and she is in a state of whispers. How can she get rid of that?
Answer: This is from Satan, and it is obligatory for her to fight Satan. It is obligatory to fight Satan by seeking refuge in Allah from him and being cautious of his whispers, even if she is in prayer. If he overwhelms her, she should spit to her left three times and say: “I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan,” “I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan,” “I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan.” May Allah protect her from that. She should not submit to the whispers. The evil of whispers is great, and these whispers may lead a person to be like a madman. Satan plays with people, so it is obligatory for the man and the woman, if they feel that, to fight the enemy of Allah, Satan, and to cut off the whispers, and to be decisive about what they have done of prayer, ablution, and other things, and not to hesitate in that, so that Satan has no power over them. For when Satan finds softness and weakness in the man or the woman, he hopes for them and harms them with whispers. But when he finds firmness and strength, he stays away from them. Yes.
