Ruling on Disobeying One's Parents in What Is Right

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
A message was received for the program from one of the listening brothers, asking and saying: If my mother asks me for some ordinary requests and I refuse to respond to them, am I undutiful?
Answer: Yes, if she asks for ordinary requests that she needs, such as asking you to bring a household need, like food or a side dish or something else, and you neglect that and do not obey her in this, that is undutifulness. Or if she asks you to go to such-and-such to deliver a message from her to her brother, her father, or her husband at the shop, and you disobey her, that is also undutifulness. So, obedience and listening to the mother in what is right, and to the father likewise, is part of dutifulness, and disobedience to them is undutifulness, even in ordinary matters. Likewise, if she asks you to bring a need from the house, or to prepare the lunch that is available to be served at such-and-such place, or the dinner, or to go to the guest with such-and-such, or to give the guest what he needs of such-and-such, all of this is obligatory for you to do, in obedience to the father and mother, and you have no right to disobey them in this. However, if they order you to do something wrong, no, if they order you to smoke, or order you to bring them tobacco or intoxicants, this is not permissible for you; you have no right to obey them in disobedience to Allah. Rather, obedience is only in what is right. But if they order you to do something permissible or something required, it is obligatory for you to listen and obey, provided you are able to do so. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
