Question:
A message was received by the program from one of the listening brothers, identified as (E. R.). Our brother says in his message: I am a young man of seventeen years. O His Eminence the Shaykh! I am sincere in my worship of Allah the Exalted. I perform the five obligatory prayers in the best manner, and I do not listen to songs or music, praise be to Allah.
But my problem is that after finishing every obligatory prayer, I feel that I have not given it its due, and I do not feel that my prayer has been accepted. I ask you to guide me on this matter. May Allah reward you with good. I should also mention that after that feeling, I sit and supplicate to Allah, seeking His forgiveness and repentance. I ask for your guidance. May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
I ask Allah to increase you in good, and to keep us and you firm on the right path. Thank your Lord for the guidance He has made easy for you, and ask your Lord for steadfastness upon the truth.
As for what afflicts you after the prayer, it is from Shaytan, from his evil whispers, to harm you and sadden you. So fear Allah and beware of these whispers. Have a good opinion of your Lord, for Allah has promised the sincere believers the acceptance of their deeds. Therefore, you should not yield to the whispers of the enemy of Allah. You must have a good opinion of your Lord. It is authentic from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:: I am in accordance with what My servant thinks of Me, and I am with him when he calls upon Me, and in the other wording: Sunan Ibn Majah 3822Sahih (Darussalam).
So fear Allah, have a good opinion of your Lord, and do not think of Him otherwise. Strive to perform your prayer with utmost care, humility, and focus. Have a good opinion of your Lord and hope in Him, Glorified and Exalted is He, that He has accepted it from you. Do not entertain whispers or have a bad opinion of your Lord . Rather, hope that He will accept it from you and have a good opinion of your Lord. However, along with this, you must strive for rectitude and perfection, as Allah said regarding the people of faith and piety:[Al-Mu'minun 23:60] Those are the ones who hasten in good deeds, and they are the first to them [Al-Mu’minun: 60-61].
So perhaps you are among those who fear their Lord and revere Him, Glorified and Exalted is He, and tremble before Him, while being diligent in their work. Yet you have a good opinion of Him regarding the acceptance of your deeds and that He will not return them to you, for you have done well in them, striven in them, and performed what you are able to. And He, Glorified and Exalted is He, is the One who said: [Al-Taghabun: 16]. We ask Allah for success for us and for you.
The presenter: O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good.
