The Ruling on the Hadith: (Whoever blackens a door upon a calamity . . . )

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A letter reached the program from one of the female listeners. The questioner says: Amina Hasan from the Wasit Governorate, al-Suwayrah district. Our sister has a set of questions after an introduction she wrote for her letter. She asks and says: Please inform me of the authenticity of this hadith reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said: "Whoever blackens a door upon a calamity, or strikes a shop, or breaks a tree, or cuts a hair, a house will be built for him in the Fire for every hair, and Allah the Exalted will not accept from him any deviation or justice, as long as that blackness remains on his door, and Allah the Exalted will narrow his grave and make his reckoning severe, and every angel in the heavens and the earth will curse him, and a thousand sins will be written against him, and he will rise from his grave naked. And whoever tears his garment upon a calamity, Allah will tear his religion. And if he strikes a cheek or scratches a face, Allah the Exalted will forbid him from looking at the Face of the Most Generous."
I hope you will inform me of the authenticity of this hadith. May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
This hadith is fabricated, a lie, and has no basis in truth. Rather, it is a lie and a slander against the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him). All of this is from the fabrications of the liars who claim that they are warning people about what is not appropriate; so they fabricate hadiths and lie. So upon them is from Allah what they deserve.
And what is established from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him) in this is his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
He is not one of us (one among the Ummah of Islam) who beat the cheeks or tore the front opening of the shirt or uttered the slogans of (the days of) Jahiliya (ignorance).ليس منا من ضرب الخدود، أو شق الجيوب، أو دعا بدعوى الجاهلية
Sahih Muslim 103a
This was narrated by the two Shaykhs in the two Sahihs, and it is a severe warning, but with the wording:
He is not one of us who strikes his cheeksليس منا من ضرب الخدود
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1860Sahih (Darussalam)
upon a calamity
or tearing the garmentsأو شق الجيوب
the garments
or uttered the slogans of (the days of) Jahiliya (ignorance)أو دعا بدعوى الجاهلية
Sahih Muslim 103a
of bad speech, he wails and cries out: "My back is broken," "Woe, such and such, such and such," he laments and wails over the deceased. So all of this is prohibited; for this reason, it came in the hadith that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
I have no concern with one with whom the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) has no concern, Verily the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) has no concern with that woman who wails loudly, shaves her hair and tears (her garment in grief).أنا برئ من الصالقة والحالقة والشاقة
Sahih Muslim 104a
.
And the *salqiyyah* is the one who raises her voice upon a calamity, the *halqiyyah* is the one who shaves her hair upon a calamity, and the *shaqqiyyah* is the one who tears her garment upon a calamity. These are the things that are established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but not with the words mentioned by the questioner.
And there is no doubt that wailing over the deceased, tearing garments, striking cheeks, and calling for woe and destruction; all of this is prohibited for the bereaved. Rather, he should say: "Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we return. Allah has decreed and what He willed has happened. O Allah, reward me in my calamity and replace for me something better than it." As for doing these abominations, it is not permissible: striking the cheek, or tearing a garment, or plucking hair, or shaving it, or what is similar to that, which indicates distress and lack of patience; so it is prohibited. Yes.
