What is prescribed in times of calamity and the prohibition of wailing

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner: He also asks and says: We have a custom in our town where, when someone dies, the women scream, put dust on their heads, and do similar things. What is the ruling on this, may Allah reward you?
The answer: This is not permissible. It is obligatory to be patient, seek reward from Allah, and not to be distressed. When a person dies, what is prescribed for the people of faith, both men and women, is patience and seeking reward, and that everyone should say: "Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we return. Allah has decreed it and what He willed has happened." This is what is prescribed.
As for screaming and putting dust on the head, this is an abomination and is not permissible. This is from the practices of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He is not one of us who strikes his cheeks, rends his garment, and calls the calls of the Jahiliyyah.ليس منا من ضرب الخدود وشق الجيوب ودعا بدعوى الجاهلية
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1862Sahih (Darussalam)
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
I have no concern with one with whom the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) has no concern, Verily the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) has no concern with that woman who wails loudly, shaves her hair and tears (her garment in grief).أنا بريء من الصالقة والحالقة والشاقة
Sahih Muslim 104a
The "saliqah" is the one who raises her voice at a calamity. The "haaliqah" is the one who shaves her hair. Similarly, plucking and cutting are included. The "shaqqah" is the one who tears her garment at a calamity. From this comes taking dust and throwing it on the head, and similar things.
The point is: Wailing, plucking hair, cutting hair, shaving it, taking dust and hitting it on the face or on the head, all of this is from the practices of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance and is not permissible. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
