What is the authenticity of the hadith: “I guarantee a house in the outskirts of Paradise for the one who abandons argumentation, even if he is in the right”? And what is its meaning?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner: Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah.

The questioner : Your Eminence, the hadith:
I guarantee a house in the surroundings of Paradise for a man who avoids quarrelling even if he were in the right أنا زعيمٌ ببيت في ربض الجنة لِمَن ترك المراءَ وإن كان محقًّا
Sunan Abi Dawud 4800Hasan (Al-Albani)
; is this hadith authentic, I mean?

The Shaykh : Yes, the hadith is authentic, but the part you mentioned:
I guarantee a house in the surroundings of Paradise أنا زعيمٌ ببيتٍ في ربض الجنة
Sunan Abi Dawud 4800Hasan (Al-Albani)
is only for the one who abandons argumentation while he is in the wrong. As for the one who abandons argumentation while he is in the right, he has a house in the highest part of Paradise.

The questioner : Yes, please explain this hadith, Your Eminence?

The Shaykh : It means that one person argues with another, and either the truth is with him or the truth is with his opponent. Then, during the argument, by the nature of man, as the Lord of Mankind said:
but man has ever been, most of anything, [prone to] dispute. وَكَانَ الْإِنْسَانُ أَكْثَرَ شَيْءٍ جَدَلًا
[Al-Kahf 18:54]
, he defends himself and knows that he is arguing with falsehood. Then he remembers this hadith and stops the argument. So, when he knows that he is arguing with falsehood and stops the argument with falsehood, a house is built for him in the outskirts of Paradise. As for the other case, where he argues and the truth is with him, but he keeps arguing and arguing and sees that this argument with that one who is in the wrong does not yield the expected fruit of the argument, such as what He, the Exalted, said: What is it?
and argue with them in a way that is best وَجَادِلْهُمْ بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ
[An-Nahl 16:125]
, it appears to him that this arguing is of no benefit and does not achieve the goal of arguing in the best manner. So he stops the arguing, and the truth is with him. Then his reward from Allah, Mighty and Majestic, is that a house is built for him in the highest part of Paradise.

The questioner : May Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : And may He reward you.
