Ruling on abandoning prayer for the elderly and the sick

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message was received by the program from Sudan, sent by one of the female listeners, who says (S. M. A). Our sister has three questions:
In her first question, she says: I have an elderly grandmother who is unable to perform wudu' due to moisture in her feet, and she abandons prayer on the grounds of not having wudu', despite the fact that we have explained tayammum to her and how it is performed?
Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
What is obligatory for the sick person and the elderly person is the same as what is obligatory for others, provided they have the ability. So they must perform istinja' or istijmar for what comes out of the two passages, and they must perform the Shari'ah wudu', and they must perform ghusl if janabah occurs. All of this is well known in the pure Shari'ah. If one is unable to perform wudu' due to an illness that prevents him from doing so, or if there is an inability that prevents him from doing so, and it is easy to find someone to perform wudu' for him, then that is obligatory. If both of these are difficult, he performs tayammum by bringing him earth in a container, or in a handkerchief, or with things with which he strikes the earth with his hands, and wipes his face and his palms with them, with the intention of ghusl from janabah, or with the intention of the minor ritual impurity.
As for what concerns the two passages, it is sufficient to wipe them with handkerchiefs or with paper or the like, until they are purified. Water is not obligatory if he performs istinja' with water, praise be to Allah. If he does not perform istinja' with water, it is sufficient for him to perform istijmar with stones, paper, or rags until the place is purified, with three wipes or more. Three wipes are necessary, or more, until the place is purified from the impurity, from the excrement and the urine. And when he does that, he performs the wudu' of prayer, then he rinses his mouth and sniffs water, and so on until the end. Yes.
