Fasting for the Elderly and the Heart Patient

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 14984 )
Q: I am informing you that I am an elderly man, approximately eighty years old, and I suffer from a heart condition. I take sedative pills three times a day according to the doctor's instructions, and I have not stopped them completely, as needed. The blessed month of Ramadan is approaching, and fasting may be difficult for me. I ask your Eminence to inform me promptly of what you see fit, for I fear Allah the Exalted and Glorified. This is what I hope from your Eminence. May Allah guide you to what He loves and is pleased with, and may you remain safe.
A: If the matter is as the questioner described, it is permissible for him to break his fast to take the medication, and then he must make up the fasts when he is able. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
