How to Get Rid of Whispers in Matters of Creed and Other Things

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
One of the female listeners sent a message containing more than thirty questions. In her first question—and the listener is named Huda—she says: I have a problem, O honorable Shaykh, which I see as great, and I am presenting it to your honor, and I hope you will give me a satisfying answer:
Strange thoughts torment me, and I do not know how to describe them to you: I doubt my Islamic faith, and I know that this is the work of Satan, but what should I do? For example, I say: What proves to me that there is a Paradise or a Hellfire? Even though—praise be to Allah—I obey Allah and avoid prohibitions. I feel pain often, and I fear the day I return to Allah the Exalted. I hope you will advise me regarding what I have mentioned to you, and thank you.

Answer:
There is no doubt that this is from Satan, for Satan calls people to doubt the religion of Allah and casts doubts and whispers upon them, until he says to them: What is the evidence for such and such? What is the evidence for such and such? It is obligatory for the believing man and woman, if they find any of these matters, that one of them should say: I have believed in Allah and His Messenger, I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan. It is authentic from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
People will keep asking questions until they say: Allah created everything, so who created Allah? So whoever finds that, let him say: I have believed in Allah and His Messenger.لا يزال الناس يتساءلون حتى يقولوا: الله خلق كل شيء، فمن خلق الله؟ فمن وجد ذلك فليقل: آمنت بالله ورسله
And in the other wording:
Let him seek refuge in Allah and let him stop.فليستعذ بالله ولينته
.
So this whisper that comes to you regarding the matter of Paradise and Hellfire, know that it is from Satan, so say at that time: I have believed in Allah and His Messenger, I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan. And if you want to know the truth, you must turn to the Book of Allah; reflect upon the Qur'an. This great, miraculous Qur'an is the speech of Allah, revealed and not created, from which all things began and to which they return. Whoever reflects upon it knows that it is the speech of Allah, and that it is the truth brought by Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) from Allah:
Falsehood cannot approach it from before it or from behind it; [it is] a revelation from a [Lord who is] Wise and Praiseworthy.لا يَأْتِيهِ الْبَاطِلُ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَلا مِنْ خَلْفِهِ تَنزِيلٌ مِنْ حَكِيمٍ حَمِيدٍ
[Surat al-Fussilat: 42].
Whoever reflects upon it and understands it knows that it is the truth, and knows that it is the speech of Allah, and knows that there is no doubt in it and no uncertainty in it. It contains news of Paradise and Hellfire, news of the past messengers, what happened to them, and what happened upon them. It contains news of what was and what will be. Whoever reflects upon it is given the coolness of certainty, and knows that the truth is what the messengers (peace and blessings be upon them) brought, and knows that what is contained in the Book of Allah is the truth and guidance regarding the matter of Paradise and Hellfire, the laws brought by Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and what the past messengers brought, and other things.
So you must reflect upon the Qur'an and increase in its recitation, and be glad of good, and be glad of success. And if this thought occurs to you, say: I have believed in Allah and His Messenger, I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan. And so it is for others among the people; everyone to whom a thought occurs regarding the matter of Paradise and Hellfire, or the matter of Allah, or the matter of the messengers, or the matter of the Resurrection, or other matters of the religion, let him seek refuge in Allah from Satan and say: I have believed in Allah and His Messenger. Let him reflect upon the Qur'an and increase in its recitation until he finds the coolness of certainty, and until he finds the immediate healing in what he reads from the Book of Allah .

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
