Question:
Your Eminence, this questioner asks: What is the interpretation of this noble verse:
Indeed, those who do not expect the meeting with Us and are satisfied with the life of this world and feel secure therein and those who are heedless of Our signsإِنَّ الَّذِينَ لا يَرْجُونَ لِقَاءَنَا وَرَضُوا بِالْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَاطْمَأَنُّوا بِهَا وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ عَنْ آيَاتِنَا غَافِلُونَ
[Yunus:7]?

Answer:
This is according to its apparent meaning, meaning: they preferred it over the Hereafter. They were content with life and at ease with it, and were heedless of the Hereafter. They did not fulfill what Allah has made obligatory, nor did they strive to fulfill the right of Allah. Rather, they preferred the world over the Hereafter, and their concern became their desires and satisfying their appetites from the world. They forgot the Hereafter, did not declare the oneness of Allah, did not worship Him, did not fulfill His obligations, and did not abandon His prohibitions. So for them is the Fire on the Day of Resurrection—may Allah grant us safety—because they became among the people of the world, preferring it over the Hereafter. Yes. May Allah grant us safety.

The presenter: May Allah grant us safety. May Allah reward you with good, Your Eminence.
