The ruling on sending blessings upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) aloud after the obligatory prayers

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q224: The questioner asks: What is the ruling on sending blessings upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) aloud after every prayer?
A224: Sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is prescribed, as Allah the Exalted said:
Indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [Allah to grant him] peace.
[Al-Ahzab 33:56]
. And He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Send blessings upon me and offer peace, for your blessings reach me wherever you are.صلوا علي وسلِّموا فإن صلاتكم تبلغني حيثما كنتم
And He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever sends Salat upon me, Allah sends Salat upon him ten times.من صلى الله علي صلاة صلى الله عليه بها عشراً
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 485Sahih (Darussalam)
Sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is among the best of deeds and carries a great reward. However, specifying it for a particular time or in a particular manner is not permissible except with evidence. Sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a group after the obligatory prayer
with a collective voice, as the questioner mentions, is among the newly invented innovations for which Allah has not sent down any authority. As for a Muslim sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) by himself, without association with others and without forming a collective voice, this is among the greatest of deeds. However, one does not commit to doing this after every prayer, because it was not reported. Rather, sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was reported in the final tashahhud. As for committing to it after every prayer, this is not permissible. But if one sends blessings upon him at times, without a collective voice and without association with others or a specific manner as mentioned in the question, there is nothing wrong with it.
