The second and fourth questions of Fatwa No. ( 15627 )
Q2: If a person is making up what he missed from the blessed month of Ramadan, and he prayed the Fajr prayer, then slept and woke up in a state of major ritual impurity, should he perform the full ritual bath and continue his fast , or should he break his fast and make it up the next day?
A2: If a person fasts, whether obligatory or voluntary, and then sleeps during the fast
and has a wet dream, this does not affect his fast. He must perform the full ritual bath from the state of major ritual impurity for the sake of prayer if he sees the fluid, which is semen. If he does not see any semen, he does not have to perform the full ritual bath. As for the fast, it is valid in all cases, because having a wet dream is not by his choice.
Q4: I have a refugee with me who cannot fast due to illness. Should he pay the expiation of feeding the poor to the refugees who are with us? We are equal in our livelihood. Or should he feed the poor when he returns to Iraq ?
Vol. 4: One who is unable to fast Ramadan due to an illness that has befallen him breaks his fast. Then, if he is able to make up the days he missed at a later time, it is obligatory for him to do so; because of the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Baqarah 2:185]. As for one whose illness is chronic—that is, continuous—and its end is not expected, he feeds one poor person for each day the amount of half a sa' of food, meaning approximately one and a half kilograms for each day, and he gives it to the poor people who reside with him or to others. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
