Forming the intention for fasting at night
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourth question of the fatwa numbered ( 20023 )
Q4: What is the ruling on one who forms the intention at night for fasting, but Allah decrees that he breaks his fast in the morning or at any time for some reason? Does he have to make up fasting this day because he intended but did not fast, or is there no harm in that?
A4: If this fast is obligatory, such as being a vow or making up a day of Ramadan, it is not permissible to break it. If the one fasting breaks it without an excuse, he is sinful and upon him is
the making up of the fast. As for if the fast is voluntary, it is better to complete it, and if he breaks it, there is no blame on him and he is not required to make it up. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
