Hajj or buying land for residence

Fatwa number ( 19439 )
Q: I live with my family, my wife and my daughter, and I am committed to the Shari'ah of Allah as much as I can. Although my brothers and sisters do not apply the Shari'ah of Allah, and they do not pray
except a few of them, and they listen to musical instruments, and they seek nearness to Allah through graves, and they slaughter for them, and other violations of the Shari'ah. I want to save my religion, along with my wife and daughter, even though I am an employee with a salary of (4000) Moroccan dirhams, and I have a sum of money amounting to (30,000) dirhams. Should I buy a plot of land or perform Hajj? Knowing that the price of the plot is (35,000) dirhams, with an area of (60) dunums, and after one day the prices will rise and I will not be able to rent, even though the rent exceeds (700) dirhams, and the cost of living is high. I have never performed Hajj. If the answer is Hajj, should I perform it or my father, since my father has never performed Hajj? May Allah reward you all with good.

A : You are not obligated to perform Hajj unless you have money sufficient for the expenses of Hajj, in excess of what is sufficient for you and for those whose maintenance is obligatory upon you, in terms of food, clothing, and housing. This is based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And [due] to Allah from the people is a pilgrimage to the House - for whoever is able to find thereto a wayوَلِلَّهِ عَلَى النَّاسِ حِجُّ الْبَيْتِ مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ إِلَيْهِ سَبِيلا
[Ali 'Imran 3:97]
, and the means is the appropriate provision and vehicle for each time according to its circumstances. Your father is the same; if this condition is not met for him, then Hajj is not obligatory upon him, and praise be to Allah.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
