Hajj is not obligatory upon you unless you have money sufficient for your Hajj

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 17680 )
Q1: I want to perform Hajj, but my low salary, as well as my wife’s expenses and the demands of life, prevent me and keep me constantly thinking about it. I know that I want to perform Hajj, and I also have a plan to save up an amount of money to buy land, and after that, I will save more money and perform Hajj with my wife, if Allah wills.
A1 : Hajj is not obligatory upon you unless you have money sufficient for your Hajj
in addition to what is sufficient for you and your wife and the settlement of your debt; as Allah the Exalted said:
And [due] to Allah from the people is a pilgrimage to the House - for whoever is able to find thereto a wayوَلِلَّهِ عَلَى النَّاسِ حِجُّ الْبَيْتِ مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ إِلَيْهِ سَبِيلا
[Ali 'Imran 3:97]
. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
