The ruling on one who leaves the Farewell Tawaf

Fatwa number ( 14630 )
Q: Allah has blessed us with the Hajj this year, my wife, my son, and my daughter. We performed all the rites of Hajj except for the final tawaf: the Farewell Tawaf, on the assumption that it is not one of the obligatory duties of Hajj but rather a recommended practice. After we returned to our residence and looked into the books, we found that it is one of the obligatory duties of Hajj, and that it is not made up except by a sacrifice or by fasting for ten days: three days during the Hajj and seven days when we return, and the sacrifice is to be in Makkah during the days of Hajj. The question is: What is obligatory for us to make up this obligation and complete the Hajj? We performed the Tawaf of Ifadah on the twelfth day, we stoned the three pillars, and we left Makkah on the morning of the thirteenth day. If fasting is required of us, what do we do about the three days that are obligatory to fast during the Hajj?
A : It is obligatory for each of you to slaughter a fidyah (ransom payment) because you left the Farewell Tawaf, and this is to make up the rite. The fidyah is a sheep that is acceptable as an 'Id sacrifice, slaughtered in Makkah and distributed to the poor of the Haram. It may be slaughtered even if it is not during the time of Hajj. Whoever among you cannot find a sheep must fast for ten days. If your wife was menstruating at the time of departure from Makkah , then she owes no fidyah. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
