The Ruling on Women Visiting Graves

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q195: The questioner asks: What is the ruling on women visiting graves during festivals and occasions?
A195: It is not permissible for a woman to visit graves in any case, whether during festivals, on Fridays, or otherwise; because of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
May Allah curse the women who visit the gravesلعن الله زوارات القبور
And in another narration:
Allah's Messenger cursed the women who visit the graves, and those who use them as Masajid and put torches on them.لعن الله زائرات القبور والمتخذين عليها المساجد والسرج
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 320Da'if (Darussalam)
. The wisdom, and Allah knows best, is due to the weakness in women; if she sees the grave of a relative, her son, or her father, it leads to her distress and panic. It is also said that it is feared for a woman that she will face fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) if she visits graves, as open sinners may seek her out and expose her to harm while she is alone and secluded in the cemetery, resulting in corruption.
