Fatwa number ( 15667 )
Q: My mother and I entered the state of ihram from the al-Sa'diyyah miqat with the intention of Hajj
combined with 'Umrah for this year, 1413 AH. We performed the arrival circumambulation and sa'y, and we went to Mina and stayed there on the Day of Arafah. We went to 'Arafah on the Day of 'Arafah and returned to Mina on the Day of Sacrifice. We stoned the Jamarat al-Aqabah, then we paid the fidyah and exited the state of ihram. On that day, which was the Day of Sacrifice, around the time of the 'Asr prayer, a severe illness struck my mother and continued to worsen. I stoned the three pillars on her behalf on the 11th and 12th days of Tashriq. Her illness intensified greatly until I feared for her life, so I took her directly from Mina to Jeddah on the evening of the second day of Tashriq, after stoning the pillars. She was unable to perform the two circumambulations: the departure and the farewell . She is currently undergoing treatment in the city of Jeddah , and our residence is in the outskirts of al-Bahah. She is on the verge of recovery. My question is: What must be done regarding the circumambulation, and what is the ruling in this matter? We await your answer, upon which the rituals of this elderly woman's Hajj will be completed. May Allah reward you with good, O Shaykh?

A: It is obligatory for your mother to return to Makkah to perform the departure circumambulation, and this suffices for her in place of the farewell circumambulation if you travel immediately afterward. May Allah cure her of all evil. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
