Zakah in the Wealth of Minors

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 15312 )
Q: I have some money from the inheritance of my deceased son, which consists of rights and licenses, and it is distributed among the entire family. However,
there are minors in the family. Is zakah due on this wealth? Please note that the family receives a monthly salary from the government, which is not less than 4,000 riyals. We request a ruling on this situation: is zakah due or not?

A: Zakah is obligatory on the money you inherited from your son if a lunar year has passed since you took possession of it. Likewise, zakah is obligatory on the wealth of the minors if each one’s share reaches the nisab or more, and a lunar year has passed, and their guardian pays it on their behalf. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
