The Innovative Ihram Garment Intended for Manufacture

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Praise be to Allah alone, and blessings and peace be upon the one after whom there is no prophet. Then: The Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta has reviewed what was sent to His Eminence the Grand Mufti from the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company Ajlan and his brothers: Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Ajlan, and referred to the Committee by the General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars, with number (1211) and date 29/8/1429 AH. The question was asked in the following text: Praise be to Allah alone, and blessings and peace be upon the one after whom there is no prophet. Then: We approach Your Eminence requesting the issuance of a fatwa regarding the innovative ihram garment intended for manufacture, by the will of Allah the Exalted, specifically for our company, with the following specifications:
Design One: An izar designed in the shape of a white, wide, loose trouser, without stitching by the method of gluing and pressing with metal capsules, with a tie at the top in an artistic manner consistent with the dignity of the izar. Design Two: An izar designed in the shape of a white, wide, loose trouser, without stitching, designed by the method of gluing only, with a tie as well, similar to the previous one. We attach to Your Excellence a sample of the two izar garments, hoping that Your Eminence will honor us by appointing the necessary personnel for inspection and then issuing a religious fatwa regarding the permissibility of using them in ihram, in accordance with the Book and the Sunnah in this regard, so that we may take the practical steps to manufacture it, given the benefit and facilitation it offers to those performing Hajj or 'Umrah. May Allah preserve you and guide your steps.

A: After the Committee studied the question and reviewed the models of trousers attached to the question, it issued the following fatwa: It is not permissible for a male pilgrim in ihram to wear them; because they are of the sewn garments whose wearing is prohibited during ihram; for what is in (the two Sahihs) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
He was asked about what a person in ihram wears, so he said: "He does not wear a shirt, nor a turban, nor a cloak, nor trousers, nor a garment touched by woad or saffron, nor leather socks."سئل عن ما يلبس المحرم فقال: لا يلبس القميص ولا العمامة، ولا البرانس ولا السراويل ولا ثوبًا مسه ورس أو زعفران ولا الخفين
. The sewn garment that is prohibited, as described by the scholars, is what is tailored to the shape of the body, like a shirt, or to the shape of a limb, like trousers, even if it is free from the threads that join its ends to the shape of the body or limb; therefore, using gluing or pressing with metal capsules instead of sewing with ordinary threads does not remove it from the description of the prohibited sewn garment for the male pilgrim in ihram. Consequently, it is not permissible to manufacture this garment to be taken as clothing for the male pilgrim in ihram, because it involves misleading the pilgrims and those performing 'Umrah. Facilitation and benefit are those that follow the ways of the Shari'ah, not those that contradict it.
