The first question of Fatwa No. ( 19611 )
Q1: What is the ruling if a woman takes a ritual bath after the end of her monthly period, and her husband has intercourse with her, and blood appears after the intercourse ? Knowing that the duration of the period is seven days, and its time has ended. Please inform us, may Allah reward you.
A1 : If the situation is as mentioned, that the husband had intercourse with his wife after the end of the days of her custom, her purification from her menstruation, and her ritual bath, then he owes nothing, and seeing blood after the intercourse does not harm in that; because what the woman saw of blood after the days of her custom is considered irregular non-menstrual bleeding, unless that repeats in the second month, in which case it becomes clear that her custom has shifted to it, provided it does not exceed fifteen days. However, if the intercourse occurred before seeing the white discharge and complete purity, and they relied only on the duration of the custom, then that is intercourse that occurred during the time of menstruation. They must repent from it and not return to such a thing; because the custom may increase and decrease. And upon each of them is the expiation for that, which is giving charity of a dinar or half a dinar, which they give to the poor. And the amount of the dinar is four
sevenths of the Saudi riyal. So if the value of the Saudi riyal is seventy riyals, then each of them gives out twenty or forty riyals, and whichever of them gives out suffices him. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
