The questioner : He says: My uncle’s wife passed away after she had left him a son, so he married another woman. My uncle passed away, and his wife, that is, my uncle’s wife, married [another man] and left a son from him. My cousin, who is from his first wife, married a woman who has no relation to us, and she left a daughter, that is, my cousin’s daughter. Is it permissible for my son to marry my cousin’s daughter?
The Shaykh : Yes, it is permissible for your son to marry your cousin’s daughter, because there is no prohibition of marriage between them. The uncle’s wife is not the mother of the girl’s father, so we do not say that there is a kinship bond between them, and there is no harm in that.
The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
