The first question of Fatwa No. ( 3843 )
Q1: A man’s neighbor invited him to dinner and sent a messenger to him repeatedly, but he did not attend. The wife of the man who had the dinner said, “Serve him some food.” He said, in great anger at him, “By Allah, they will not get any.” She said
to her husband again, “Serve them some food.” He said, “By Allah, they will not get any.” That same night, she said, “I served them some food.” Her husband said, “There is no harm, but you did not inform me of that.” What is the ruling?
A1: If the situation is as described, it is obligatory for him to pay the expiation for an oath, which Allah (Mighty and Majestic) mentioned in His saying:[Al-Ma'idah 5:89] the verse. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

Allah will not impose blame upon you for what is meaningless in your oaths, but He will impose blame upon you for [breaking] what you intended of oaths. So its expiation is the feeding of ten needy people from the average of that which you feed your [own] families or clothing them or the freeing of a slave. But whoever cannot find [or afford it] - then a fast of three days [is required]. That is the expiation for oaths when you have sworn
