Repeating songs after repenting from listening to them

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 14744 )
Q 1: I have repented, praise be to Allah, from listening to songs, but at times I sing old songs. Is repeating songs with the mouth only, without music forbidden?
A 1: Thank Allah who guided you to repent from listening to songs, and strive to forget what you had memorized of them, and occupy your tongue with the remembrance of Allah the Exalted; for He the Exalted said:
(41) O you who have believed, remember Allah with much remembrance (42) And exalt Him morning and afternoon.يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اذْكُرُوا اللَّهَ ذِكْرًا كَثِيرًا (41) وَسَبِّحُوهُ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلا
[Al-Ahzab 33:41-42]
,
and from Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Shall I tell you the expression that is most loved by Allah?" It is 'Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi' (Allah is free from imperfection and His is the praise)'."ألا أخبرك بأحب الكلام إلى الله؟ إن أحب الكلام إلى الله: سبحان الله وبحمده
Riyad as-Salihin 1412
narrated by Muslim , and from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The uttering of (these words):" Exalted is Allah (He is free from imperfection), all praise is due to Allah, there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest," is dearer to me than anything over which the sun rises.لأن أقول: سبحان الله والحمد لله ولا إله إلا الله والله أكبر أحب إلي مما طلعت عليه الشمس
Sahih Muslim 2695
narrated by Muslim , and from Abdullah ibn Busr (may Allah be pleased with him):
told of a man saying, “Messenger of God, the ordinances of Islam are too many for me, so tell me something to which I may cling.” He replied, “Your tongue will continue to be supple by making mention of God.”أن رجلاً قال: يا رسول الله: إن شرائع الإسلام قد كثرت علي، فأخبرني بشيء أتشبث به، قال: لا يزال لسانك رطبًا من ذكر الله
Mishkat al-Masabih 2279
narrated by al-Tirmidhi and he graded it good, and Ahmad ibn Hanbal , and al-Hakim and he graded it authentic. As for repeating good poetry, there is nothing wrong with it, and occupying oneself with dhikr instead is better.
