Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 8867 )
Q: You are asking about the ruling on calling one's mother "Mama," and the ruling on obeying her in removing the hijab and the like.
A : There is nothing wrong with calling one's mother "Mama," unless the mother dislikes it, in which case she should be called by the name she loves most. It is not permissible to obey the mother in exposing the face
and in tabarruj (displaying adornment) in clothing and the like; for there is no obedience to a created being in disobedience to the Creator. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
