Fatwa number ( 18949 )
Q: I am married, and my problem is that my younger sister causes me problems without reason, and she also causes problems for my wife. When I intervene to resolve the issue or even offer advice to my younger sister, my mother intervenes and starts arguing with me without reason, and the same problem arises every time. I constantly find myself in the same problems regarding my sister, and she is the one who pushes my mother to start verbal skirmishes. Here, I avoid the problem and the fitnah (trial, discord or temptation). Is it my right to intervene and talk to my mother, telling her that this is haram (forbidden) and constitutes fitnah? I ask you to find me a suitable solution so that I remain on the path of truth and do not disobey my mother
And to parents, kindnessوَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَانًا
My brothers: I ask you for some assistance, or to send me the addresses of charitable
organizations so that I can get out of this problem, out of fear of undutifulness to parents.

A: We advise you to be dutiful to your mother, speak kindly to her, and not show annoyance with her. You should persist in advising your sister in a good manner to stop causing problems, if she is not in the right. If the above does not help, and if you are able to move out to a separate house with your wife without harming your mother and sister, then that is good, so that you can stay away as much as possible from the problems and skirmishes that disturb your livelihood. If you cannot do that, then you must be patient and endure. Allah the Exalted says:
(5) For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease. (6) Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا (5) إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا
[Ash-Sharh 94:5-6]
May Allah help you and guide your steps. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
