The Obligatory in Admonition and Reminding

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 21184 ) Q: I heard a word from one of the da'iyah (preachers), and he touched upon the monitoring of Allah, saying: "Allah, Lord of the worlds, has a number of times by which He monitors His servants." And he spoke about guidance, saying: "When Allah guides a person through your hands, a picture comes to you with greetings from the Lord of the worlds for so-and-so, son of so-and-so, because he was guided through your hands." What is your opinion, O your eminence? And does this fall under the likening (tamthil) that is prohibited in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the Hearing, the Seeing.لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْبَصِيرُ
[Ash-Shuraa 42:11]
? And is there a text established from the Qur'an or the Sunnah that Allah has a number of times, or that He sends a picture with greetings to so-and-so, son of so-and-so, because a person was guided through his hands? Give us a ruling, may Allah reward you, and may Allah preserve you and care for you. And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.

A : The obligatory in admonition and reminding is to adhere to the prescribed methods, and the greatest of that is: admonishing with the Great Qur'an. Allah the Exalted said:
(57) O mankind, there has to come to you instruction from your Lord and healing for what is in the breasts and guidance and mercy for the believers. (58) Say, "In the bounty of Allah and in His mercy - in that let them rejoice; it is better than what they accumulate."
[Yunus 10:57-58]
, and He the Sublime said:
This [Qur'an] is a clear statement to [all] the people and a guidance and instruction for those conscious of Allah.هَذَا بَيَانٌ لِلنَّاسِ وَهُدًى وَمَوْعِظَةٌ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
[Ali 'Imran 3:138]
, and He
(Exalted and Majestic is He) said:
But remind by the Qur'an whoever fears My threat.فَذَكِّرْ بِالْقُرْآنِ مَنْ يَخَافُ وَعِيدِ
[Qaf 50:45]
, and other verses. And among the prescribed methods is admonishing with the established Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). As for what the questioner mentioned, it is not permissible to use it; because it is bad conduct with Allah the Exalted, and describing Allah with what is not befitting Him, the Sublime, and that He is in need of devices. The principle in the science of tawhid (the oneness of Allah) is that Allah, the Sublime, is not described, named, or attributed with an action except by a Shari'ah evidence. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
