His work in a place far from his mother

Fatwa number ( 3927 )
Q: I inform you that I have an elderly mother who is unable to serve herself. She lives in Bani Shahr in Tihama in a remote village, and there is no one to support her or take care of her, nor anyone to bring her daily necessities. I work as a customs agent in the Eleventh Brigade in the South. I have tried to take her with me so that I can serve her in addition to my work, but she refuses to travel far from the village. She says: either I stay with her, or I leave her in her place. I do not want to stay in the village and leave my job, which is my source of livelihood. I am confused about my mother’s situation: should I leave her to be prey to illness and incapacity, or should I leave my job, which is my source of sustenance? I ask your Eminence to give me a fatwa that will serve as a means of pleasing Allah regarding dutifulness to parents .
A: You should strive to transfer your job to the place closest to her that allows you
to serve her. If that is not possible, it is obligatory for you to hire trustworthy women to serve her, if no one from her neighbors or relatives is available to do so voluntarily. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
