Q 3: I inform you that I work at the Civil Defense Center in Badr on the
( Medina - Jeddah ) old road, and my father and mother are about (200) kilometers away from me, as they reside in the southern region. I have tried to transfer to be near them, but my request was rejected by my authority, and all my attempts to transfer were rejected, so that I could be close to the elderly. I am aware that I cannot resign from my job, as it is my source of income, so that I could be close to my disabled father and mother. They also refused to live with me in Badr, as the Badr region is coastal and has a hot climate, while my family is accustomed to the cold climate of the south. I am unable to visit them more than once a year. Therefore, what is the solution, and is there a sin on me for this? What is your esteemed opinion on this matter, and what should I do to please my family by being near them, while my job is far from them? I ask for your guidance, and may Allah preserve and protect you.
A 3: Maintaining family ties is among the most obligatory duties, and severing them is among the major sins. The closest relatives are the parents, so maintaining ties with them is obligatory according to one's ability, based on the previous verse in the second question, and based on the saying of the Exalted:[At-Taghabun 64:16]
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
