We do not feel safe for our mother alone

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 13899 )
Q: My grandmother’s husband passed away, and she is advanced in age. She lives alone after her husband’s death and has no one with her. We are her children and live in the same area, but she resides in one neighborhood while we live in another. She is in the neighborhood of ( Sulaymanah ) and we are in the neighborhood of ( al-Fayyaliyah ) in Khaybar. She has a neighbor who is not upright, because his behavior is troubling, and we fear fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) for our mother in our absence. We are not at ease with her in that house, and we wish, O Shaykh, to move her to our own homes and return the house to its owner, as it is rented and not owned by the husband. I ask for your ruling: Do we have the right to take our grandmother to complete her 'iddah (waiting period after divorce or widowhood) in our home, or must she complete it in the marital home? As mentioned, we fear fitnah from her neighbor. This is all I have, and may Allah preserve you.
A: If the matter is as described, it is permissible to move your grandmother from the house where her husband died to your homes, in order to realize the benefit and avert the expected harm.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
