Q: 1- In the last days of Sha'ban 1399 AH, my father passed away at the age of approximately seventy years—may Allah shower him with His mercy and grant him
a spacious garden in Paradise. After my father's death, I immediately moved my mother and my sisters and settled them in the nearby town, as I have a building there. My father, may Allah have mercy on him, had been living in the countryside on the outskirts of the town. I moved them and settled them in the town at my mother's specific request, as she insisted on being settled there due to the various illnesses she suffers from. I have heard from the community, and also from hadith programs broadcast on the radio, that a widow cannot leave her previous residence until the mourning period is over, knowing that I moved my mother and her children from their residence in the countryside to the town, as I explained in the introduction. I do not know if this will have any negative consequences for my mother or not? I ask you to inform me about this question. 2- During her mourning period, my mother fell ill, which forced her to be admitted to the hospital and hospitalized for 3 days. During her stay, she underwent chest X-rays and tests, and her doctor was a man. After leaving the hospital, I received the doctor's instructions to return to the hospital to receive the necessary treatment, and she continued to see the doctor in necessary cases during her mourning period. 3- In the last month of her mourning period, she was struck by paralysis
hemiplegia and was admitted to the hospital until she passed away after fifteen days had passed—may Allah shower her with His mercy and grant her a spacious place in Paradise. She was still in her waiting period and had not completed the duration of the waiting period. While she was under treatment, she was in a room with a group of female patients, and during patient visits, men who are non-mahrams to my mother would enter the room where the female patients were, and naturally, they would see my mother, who was in her waiting period. Knowing that she was in a coma from her illness and could not protect herself from being seen by non-mahram men, and on top of all this, the doctors who were treating her and taking X-rays of her entire body. O honorable Shaykh: Will any sin be attributed to my mother for this? I ask for your answer.
A: First: You are not blamed for moving your mother and sisters from the desert to the town after your father's death, due to the illnesses you mentioned in your mother and your desire to treat her. Second: A woman who is in her waiting period for her husband and falls ill during her waiting period, goes to the hospital for treatment, stays there for a period, then leaves and the doctor decides she should visit the hospital, and she continues to visit, she is not blamed for this, due to the generality of the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Baqarah 2:185]
and due to the saying of Allah the Exalted:[At-Taghabun 64:16] Third: Your mother is not blamed for entering the hospital and staying there until she passed away while she had not left her waiting period. She is not blamed for the sight of the treating doctors or the men who enter to see their mahrams in the room where she is, along with the women. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
