Q: If (K. A. R.) , my daughter’s husband, divorced her and wrote a paper to that effect at the beginning of the day, without specifying the number of divorces, and then divorced her again at the end of the day with an absolute divorce, without specifying a number, and wrote it in a paper, what is your opinion, Your Eminence? Please inform us, may Allah reward you. The Committee has reviewed the two papers mentioned, the text of which is as follows: First: Yes, I, (K. A. R.), the husband of (F. A. S.), have divorced her with full mental capacity, and I have executed it accordingly. Second: Yes, I, the husband (K. A. R.), ID number 1376 AH, Saudi nationality, date 21/6/1391 AH, source Harimla , have divorced my wife (F. A. S.).
A: If the facts are as stated, and this divorce was not for compensation, was not preceded by a divorce, and was not followed by one, then two divorces have taken place with regard to the aforementioned woman, and he may take her back as long as she is in the waiting period. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
