If a son has any surplus from his maintenance, he must return it to his father

Fatwa number ( 8196 )
Q: My father separated from my mother some time ago and is living with his second wife. I have become responsible for my mother and the house. We are three brothers, each of us working, except for me, who is studying and responsible for everything. I take the expenses for the house from a trading shop owned by my father.
He is the one who orders me to do this and tells me: "Whatever is missing in the house, take the money for it from the shop." Over time, I have saved up some money, so I bought a piece of land for myself with this money. My father knows nothing about this land, and if I tell my father about it, he will be upset. I do not know, and therefore I am pained by this action , and I do not know if this is forbidden or permissible; because he gave me the authority to take what I need for the house, and this action I performed was saving from the household expenses. I ask you to kindly respond to this message; because honestly, I am very pained by not telling my father about this action. Is this a betrayal of my father or not? And if I tell my father: "I took so much and so much," he says to me: "Do not tell me: I took so much and so much." May Allah grant success.
A: It is obligatory for you to return to your father what you have saved from the maintenance expenses, including the land you bought with the surplus money you took on the basis that you would spend it on the house, but you did not spend it; because his permission for you to take from the shop was only to the extent of what the house needs, so the surplus, including the value of the land, was not included in the permission, so it was not permissible for you. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
