Marrying the Daughters of Two Paternal Uncles Who Are Not Full Sisters

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 14105 )
Q: I am married to my father’s brother’s daughter, and I wish to marry a second wife who is the daughter of my other paternal uncle, my father’s brother. However, my uncle objected, saying: “The woman you are with is considered my daughter, and you have no right to take my daughter alongside her, since she is her paternal uncle’s daughter.” My question is: What is the ruling on this marriage according to the Shari'ah?

A: If the matter is as you described, it is permissible for you to marry your second paternal uncle’s daughter, and it is permissible for you to have both her and your first paternal uncle’s daughter as wives, provided there is no impediment that establishes a prohibition, such as milk kinship or the like. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
