The first question of fatwa number ( 8280 )
Q1: What is the position of the uncle and the maternal uncle regarding the daughter of a brother and the daughter of a sister? Is it permissible to uncover them, see their faces, shake their hands, and greet them? Since I have not read this, please clarify this meaning from the Qur'an and the Sunnah if possible.
A1: The uncle is a mahram to his sister's daughter, and the maternal uncle is likewise a mahram to his sister's daughter. It is permissible for him to see of her what her mahrams are permitted to see. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
