Question:
Following this, a message was received for the program from a listener who identified himself by the initials (F. A. H.), residing in the Kingdom. He says: Is it permissible to marry the daughter of my father’s paternal uncle, and what is the ruling of Islam in this matter? I am aware that I have been married to the daughter of my father’s paternal uncle for more than ten years, and I have had three sons and a daughter from her. Is my marriage valid or invalid? May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh: Repeat.

The presenter : He says: Is it permissible to marry the daughter of my father’s paternal uncle, and what is the ruling of Islam in this matter? I am aware that I have been married to the daughter of my father’s paternal uncle for more than ten years, and I have had three sons and a daughter from her. Is my marriage valid or invalid?

Answer:
Yes, the marriage is valid, and praise be to Allah. Marrying the daughter of a paternal uncle, the daughter of one’s father’s paternal uncle, the daughter of one’s grandfather’s paternal uncle, the daughter of a maternal uncle, the daughter of one’s mother’s maternal uncle, or the daughter of one’s grandmother’s or grandfather’s maternal uncle is all permissible. They are all permissible to marry; it is permissible to marry any of them. Your maternal uncle’s daughter, your paternal uncle’s daughter, your mother’s maternal uncle’s daughter, your mother’s paternal uncle’s daughter, your father’s paternal uncle’s daughter, your father’s maternal uncle’s daughter—they are all lawful, and marrying them is lawful.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
