Is the father's consent required for marriage?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 13684 )
Q: I, the undersigned, 'Abd al-Qadir, am 25 years old. I wish to ask about a Christian woman who is 25 years old. She promised that once she becomes a Muslim, I would marry her. She has now become a Muslim, so should I marry her? Knowing that my father strongly opposes this marriage.
A: If the matter is as you described, you must fulfill your promise to the woman mentioned, which is to marry her. Your father's opposition to this marriage is of no consequence. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
