Q1: It is customary among the visitors that the marriage mahr is taken by the parents without the daughter, is this correct or not?
A1: It is permissible for the father to take from his daughter's mahr what does not harm her and what she does not need; due to his saying -peace and blessings be upon him-: narrated by Ibn Majah and his saying -peace and blessings be upon him-: Sunan Ibn Majah 2290Sahih (Darussalam) narrated by the five. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
